Let's take a look at the breakdown of UFC 73 odds. The first major fight is between Anderson Silva and Nathan Marquardt. Everyone has seen Silva in a couple of different UFC matchups, including beating Rich Franklin for the title back in UFC 64 and most recently by beating Travis Lutter with a triangle choke at UFC 67. Marquardt hasn't gotten to fight as many big name opponents and has been on Spike TV with his last two wins. His only other pay-per-view was a decision against Joe Doerksen at UFC 58. He's 25-6 but only has four knockouts and fourteen submissions. Hermes Franca will be taking on lightweight champion Sean Sherk. Franca is 18-5 but has won his last eight matches dating back to September of 2005, all by knockout or submissions. He has been begging for his shot at the title and Dana White finally came through with this match. Sherk is 33-2, but he seems to have finally found his home at the 155 lb weight class. His losses against Hughes and St. Pierre were at the 170 lb weight class and against two of the most elite at that division no less. This guy is a force to be reckoned with and will be a great fight indeed. Tito Ortiz and Rashad Evans is about as big of a fight that isn't a title bout that you will find in the UFC. Tito has lost three big matches, twice against Chuck and once against Couture. In the middle of all that carnage he has picked up five wins against inferior opponents, as those wins against Griffin and Shamrock are evidence of. Rashad Evans is 10-0 and was the Ultimate Fighter 2 Heavyweight winner. He hasn't really beaten too many people to write home about either, but you can expect that if he wins this one he'll be in line for a title shot before long.
