Bookmaker has become one
of the first
sportsbooks to post the
UFC 76 odds.
This event is scheduled to
take place on Saturday,
September 22nd, 2007 at the
Honda Center in Anaheim,
California. It was
expected that former PRIDE
light heavyweight Wanderlei
Silva would make his UFC
debut by taking on Chuck
Liddell, but that is not
going to be the case.
Now the main event will be
between two fighters who
were knocked out back at UFC
71 with Liddell losing his
title to Rampage Jackson and
Keith "The Dean of Mean"
Jardine, who was knocked out
in just 48 seconds against
Houston Alexander.
Liddell is looking to get
back on top of the division
after suffering his first
loss in four years, and is a
pretty heavy favorite to do
so against Jardine.
Also on the card is the PRIDE 2005 Grand Prix winner
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, who will take on the winner of
the first Ultimate Fighter, Forrest Griffin.
Shogun is 16-2 with his last loss coming against Mark
Coleman due to his suffering a broken arm back in
February of 2006. He has since came back to win
four straight against top competition. Shogun also
has a win over Rampage Jackson back in April of 2005
when he TKO's Jackson with knees. Griffin has been
up and down since winning the Ultimate Fighter back in
April of 2005. He pulled a couple of wins off early
before losing to Tito Ortiz by split decision. He
then took care of Stephan Bonnar again before falling to
Jardine at UFC 66. He bounced by with a unanimous
decision over Hector Ramirez in June at UFC 72, but it's
expected that Shogun will make quick work of this
stand-up, knock it out fighter.
Diego "The Nightmare" Sanchez is coming off his first
loss of his MMA career and now stands at 17-1.
He'll be an underdog against Jon Fitch though as the
odds makers aren't expecting a positive comeback after
his loss to Josh Koscheck at UFC 69. Before that
he had been pretty convincing in beating Karo Parisyan,
Nick Diaz, and Kenny Florian. Fitch isn't a guy
who is known in the public eye as he went 3-0 in the
organization before being shown in a live telecast.
He then rattled off three straight wins to bring his
record to 14-2. He has great balance and could
show value as more of the public starts pounding
Sanchez's line down.
