UFC 83 Odds & Predictions

Mixed Martial Arts action heads north of the border when fighters throw down at UFC 83 April 19th in Montreal, Quebec Canada at the Bell Centre. This event will mark the first time the UFC has touched down on Canadian soil. The subtitle tag of UFC 83 is Serra vs. St. Pierre 2, which hypes up the featured fight – one that could be among the best bouts of the year. Check out the UFC 83 odds below to see how oddsmakers your favorite fighters stacking up against their opponents.

Matt Serra, the UFC Welterweight Champion, will be going toe-to-toe with UFC Interim Welterweight Champion Georges St. Pierre and oddsmakers have made St. Pierre the heavy favorite at -450 at BetUS Sportsbook.

With this being Canada's first up close and personal look at the UFC, several prominent Canadian Fighters are scheduled to throw down. Among those fighters are Kalib Starnes, Mark Bocek, Jason Mac Donald, Sam Stout, and Jonathan Goulet.

Current UFC Welterweight Champion, Matt Serra finds himself a heavy dog despite beating Georges St. Pierre last April by way of TKO to claim the Welterweight title. But oddsmakers like St. Pierre fighting on his home turf in a revenge spot. He had fought two bouts since his loss to Serra and oddsmakers feel those fights will have him more polished.

Canadian Kalib Starnes, native of Surrey, British Columbia starred in the third season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series, but he finds himself the underdog in his home country against fellow middleweight Nathan Quarry. BodogLife oddsmakers have listed Quarry as the -330 favorite. Nathan "Rock" Quarry also appeared on The Ultimate Fighter reality TV series. He has won four of his first five UFC fights, with his only loss coming to Rich Franklin when he challenged Franklin for the Middleweight title at UFC 56. Starnes will be fighting in front of a home crowd, but two losses in his last three fights suggest he'll be overmatched here.

Oddsmakers are expecting the easiest win of the night to come from Mac Danzig over Mark Bocek in a middleweight bout. Danzig is the much more accomplished fighter with a MMA record of 17-4-1. Danzig is a former lightweight champion for King of the Cage and was the winner of The Ultimate Fighter 6 reality show. Bocek is up and coming, but doesn't appear to have enough experience to hang with Danzig in this fight. A major upset is not out of the question and I expect him to get plenty of action by bettors as he dukes it out on his home soil.
