UFC 86 Betting Odds & Predictions
UFC 86: Jackson vs.
Griffin will be the
event of the summer as these
two UFC superstars battle it
out for light heavyweight
supremacy on Saturday, July
5th at the Mandalay Bay
Events Center in Sin City,
Nevada. And I promise that
this event will provide the
most fireworks on
Independence Day weekend.
This UFC event isn't
subtitled anything cute
because it simply highlights
the fight that everyone is
waiting for with baited
breath.
Jimmy Boyd previews this
Light Heavyweight
Championship bout and lets
you in on the other
projected matchups on the
main and preliminary cards
in this UFC 86 odds article.
Light Heavyweight Champion
Quniton "Rampage" Jackson
puts his title belt on the
line against the first ever
winner of The Ultimate
Fighter reality show,
Forrest Griffin. Griffin has
come full circle in that now
he is a coach on season 7 of
The Ultimate Fighter reality
series with Jackson.
Jackson has taken the MMA
world by storm by beating
Chuck Liddell for the UFC
Light Heavyweight crown and
then defeating Pride
champion Dan Henderson to
unify the belts, making him
the undisputed light
heavyweight champion of the
world. He brings a 28-6
professional mark into this
fight, but those lofty
numbers don't even do this
guy justice. Since coming
onto the UFC scene in
February of 2007, Jackson
took out Marvin Eastman and
then crushed Chuck Liddell
three months later via first
round knockout. Jackson is
known for his raw power
displayed in his aggressive
slams and striking ability.
These are among the things
that has
BetUS oddsmakers listing him
as the -260 favorite.
Forrest Griffin is the top
205-pound contender with a
15-4 professional mark and
he wants nothing more to go
from The Ultimate Fighter
champion to UFC Light
Heavyweight champion.
Griffin is a fighter who can
win a number of ways. It's
his aggressive nature and
heart of a lion that have
gotten him to this point.
Griffin has never backed
down from a challenge,
facing the likes of Tito
Ortiz, Stephan Bonnar, Elvis
Sinosic, Keith Jardine, and
Hector Ramirez. He really
got the attention of the MMA
world when he submitted
Mauricio "Shogun" Rua at UFC
76. Griffin's submission
techniques are something
Jackson will definitely have
to look out for.
Griffin has nothing but
respect for Jackson so I
don't expect over confidence
to be an issue in the least.
I think we all should get
ready for two prepared
fighters who only care about
winning to lead a great UFC
86 card.
Other main card bouts will
be between middleweights
Patrick Cote and Ricardo
Almeida, lightweights Joe
Stevenson and Gleison Tibau,
and welterweights Josh
Koscheck and Chris Lytle. On
the preliminary card we will
see three lightweight bouts
between Jorge Gurgel and
Cole Miller, Melvin Guillard
and Dennis Siver, and Corey
Hill and Justin Buchholz,
and two welterweight bouts
between Chris Wilson and
Steve Bruno and Neb Saunders
and Jared Rollins.
