How Weather Affects Baseball Handicapping & Betting
Weather is a very big factor when trying to handicap a MLB game. Many amateur sports handicappers don’t really take it into account when deciding what to bet, but it can really help to improve your success rate. MLB may be the pro sport that is most affected by weather. Different types of weather related factors can help to influence a game and affect the performance of teams. This is why it’s important to keep up to date with the current weather. Also it is good to know which teams play best under certain conditions, and which teams play bad under certain conditions. If you know these key things then it should definetly help you win more games. Here are a couple weather factors to consider when betting MLB:

1. Temperature – Make sure that you know the temperature of each game before it begins and you bet it. Also, remember that warmer air is less dense than colder air. What does this mean? This means that the warmer the conditions are the further the ball is going to travel. A ball that would normally travel 300 feet at 75 degrees will travel much further at 95 degrees. This critical information can help you to determine a more accurate over/under total of a baseball game.
2. Air Pressure – An important rule to know is air that is under low pressure is less dense then air that is under high pressure. Again you make be asking yourself what does this means? Well, this means that balls will carry much further under high air pressure. A prime example of this is in Denver. The pressure here is always about 15% less. This means that a ball hit at Coors Field in Colorado will travel much further then any other ball because of the low pressure. This means that more totals should go over than under because the ball is able to travel much longer. If you use this strategy of finding out the air pressure before the start of a MLB game, you can use this to your advantage to help you determine the over/under total of the game your going to bet.
3. Wind – Wind is big factor that can influence a major league baseball game. If the wind is moving in the direction that the ball is being hit, it is going to cause it to go further. If it’s blowing opposite of the direction then it will cause it to travel less distance. This seems very simple but many bettors ignore it all together, when it is a very valuable tool. Wind may sometimes be the most important factor when betting so make sure you consider the speed and the direction that it’s blowing before you bet.
If you take each weather factor that I have just discussed into account before betting on baseball, then I can guarantee you that you will win a greater percentage of games. Be a complete sports bettor and put the time into researching and it will pay off.
