It is also a great little tool to use for those of you in weekly pick ‘em pools. Jimmy briefly highlights why the odds makers have set the lines the way they have below.

Oakland Raiders +4
Kansas City Chiefs -4
Total 35.5
Odds makers predicted score: Raiders 16 Chiefs 20
After getting blown out by 27 points at home to Denver on Monday Night Football, the books don’t think the Raiders can get it done at division rival K.C. in a short week.
Tennessee Titans +1
Cincinnati Bengals -1
Total 39.5
Odds makers predicted score: Titan 19 Bengals 20
An impressive win at home against division rival Jacksonville has the odds makers give the Titans the slight edge on the road.
Indianapolis Colts -2
Minnesota Vikings +2
Total 43.5
Odds makers predicted score: Colts 23 Vikings 21
The books aren’t ready to bail on the Colts yet after getting taken to school at home by the Bears. If Minnesota would have beaten the Packers on Monday Night Football, they would likely be getting the home chalk.
New Orleans Saints +1
Washington Redskins -1
Total 42.5
Odds makers predicted score: Saints 21 Redskins 22
Odds makers see this one going right down to the wire and have given the slight edge to a Skins team which will not have played in over a week.
Green Bay Packers -3
Detroit Lions +3
Total 44.5
Odds makers predicted score: Packers 24 Lions 21
The Lions find themselves as 3-point home dogs after losing by two touchdowns to a Falcons team expected to be at the bottom of the NFC South. The books have Rodgers and the Pack getting in done again.
Chicago Bears +3.5
Carolina Panthers -3.5
Total 37.5
Odds makers predicted score: Bears 17 Panthers 20
The books are not ready to jump on the Bears’ bandwagon yet. Carolina won on the road against a Chargers team many have picked to win the Super Bowl and that has them laying a little more than a field goal.
New York Giants -8.5
St Louis Rams +8.5
Total 42
Odds makers predicted score: Giants 25 Rams 17
The books like a well-rested Giants team, who has not played since the Thursday night NFL opener to roll on the road.
Buffalo Bills +6
Jacksonville Jaguars -6
Total 38
Odds makers predicted score: Bills 16 Jags 22
The Bills impressed in week one with a 34-10 win over Seattle, but the books like the Jags to bounce back at home. Buffalo is going to have to have a few more 24-point wins before it starts to gain road respect.
Atlanta Falcons +8.5
Tampa Bay Buccaneers -8.5
Total 38
Odds makers predicted score: Falcons 15 Bucs 23
Despite a solid home win against the Lions, odds makers have the Bucs winning at home with relative ease against the Falcons.
San Francisco 49ers +8.5
Seattle Seahawks -8.5
Total 39.5
Odds makers predicted score: 49ers 16 Seahawks 24
Odds makers feel the Seahawks will be in bounce back mode against division rival San Francisco following a lopsided defeat on the road last week.
Miami Dolphins +7
Arizona Cardinals -7
Total 40
Odds makers predicted score: Dolphins 17 Cards 24
Miami continued to struggle putting points on the board and that has Arizona sitting as a touchdown favorite at home.
New England Patriots +2.5
New York Jets -2.5
Total 36
Odds makers predicted score: Pats 17 Jets 19
What a difference an injury makes. The Pats would have most certainly been in the road chalk role if Tom Brady hadn’t gone down last week. Now Favre and the Jets are the home faves against the reigning division champs.
Baltimore Ravens +4.5
Houston Texans -4.5
Total 37
Odds makers predicted score:
It appears the books have Houston higher up on their power ratings as they have them bouncing back this week after a crushing loss to Pittsburgh.
San Diego Chargers -2
Denver Broncos +2
Total 45.5
Odds makers predicted score: Chargers 24 Broncos 22
The Broncos looked great on Monday Night Football, but it wasn’t enough for the odds makers to favor them over the Chargers who lost. San Diego’s dominance of Denver last season has something to do with this one.
Pittsburgh Steelers -5.5
Cleveland Browns +5.5
Total 45
Odds makers predicted score: Steelers 25 Browns 20
While some picked the Browns to win the AFC North, the books were way more impressed by the Steelers in week one and have installed them as 5.5-point faves because of it.
Mon. Sep 15, 2008
Philadelphia Eagles +6.5
Dallas Cowboys -6.5
Total 47
Odds makers predicted score: Eagles 20 Cowboys 27
Both of these teams were very impressive in week 1 with blowout wins. This line has everything to do with the game being at Dallas.
