If there’s one thing we have come to expect this college football season,
it’s been to expect the unexpected. You really didn’t think Ohio State was going
to be able to make it the rest of the way out as the nation’s number one did
you? Not this year! With Illinois’ shocking upset over the Buckeyes and
Wisconsin’s upset of 14th ranked Michigan, one would have though that the Big
Ten would be turned upside down. But with Michigan and Ohio State still the only
Big Ten teams with a loss a piece, these two powerhouses will battle it out for
a conference championship at Ann Arbor this week. When the conference title
comes down to this rivalry, fans are always in for a treat. With injuries to two
of Michigan’s key skill players, the line is yet to drop. Make sure you check
out Jimmy’s weekly college football predictions article for more insight into
this matchup later in the week.
LSU is the new consensus number one with Oregon following right behind and
Oklahoma ranking third in most polls. The Tigers should live to see number one
another week as oddsmakers have them as 18-point favorites at Mississippi. One
team that has progressively gotten more national attention each week is the 10-0
Kansas Jayhawks. They are ranked third, ahead of Oklahoma, in the BCS rankings,
but in my opinion this is a team which is still very much untested. KU is going
to have to provide a win over Mizzou and a victory in the Big 12 title game to
have the nation believing this team is better than Oklahoma in the Big 12 and
deserves to be in the BCS title game.
